To oversee and support Produce Team Members to ensure proper execution of department processes and procedures, excellent customer service and adherence to Common Crow policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
MERCHANDISING Plan and maintain attractive displays and ensure dry and refrigerated produce displays and shelves are clean, fully stocked and properly rotated.
Ensure accurate, up-to-date pricing.
Visit other stores for price comparisons, product and merchandising ideas.
Verify that labeling (or shelf tags) reflect accurate, up-to-date prices and country of origin.
Attend meetings as required to plan promotions, cross-merchandising and advertising.
Attend trade shows, conferences and workshops as assigned.
Provide product information to customers, staff and Marketing.
Stay abreast of developments in natural products industry through reading trade publications and talking with brokers.
Notify store personnel of Temporarily out of Stock and Manufacturers out of Stock according to store procedure.
DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE Ensure that non-sellable items are returned or otherwise properly disposed of, following established procedures.
Keep accurate shrinkage records.
Ensure that department retail and back stock areas are in clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards.
Participate in inventory counts and price change projects.
Maintain department equipment in working order.
Monitor cooler and freezer temperatures and follow established procedures for handling breakdowns and cleaning routines.
Advise Owner of equipment problems or needs.
Ensure that the store is ready and presentable at all times.
Perform daily 10 minute meetings with staff and go over objectives for the day.
CUSTOMER SERVICE Greet customers in aisles in a polite and pleasant manner utilizing the 20/5 rule:
greet within 20 feet, ask how to be of service within 5 feet; introduce the customer to the clerk best suited to serve their needs.
Take initiative to help customers with product questions, refer customers to store expert or third party information sources as needed.
Assist customers with special order requests in prompt, friendly, courteous manner and follow through until customer receives the product or order is canceled.
Provide assistance to customers by helping them find items on the sales floor and practices suggestive selling.
Report customer suggestions, comments and complaints to the Owner.
Read literature to stay abreast of latest developments in the natural products industry.
Stock and maintain displays fully to give feeling of abundance.
Follow security procedures.
Alert MOD or Owner to potential shoplifters, disorderly customers and other emergencies.
Gather and maintain information on products customers.
(ie:
gather information on which products are organic, local, IPM, etc.
) Label and maintain signage for local, organic, and other specialty items.
Supervision- Managerial responsibilities to include supporting hiring, training, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations of all produce staff.
Ensure on-the-job training of Produce staff following established policy.
Conduct and document performance evaluations with HR Dpt support.
With HR support, document performance issues and take corrective action as needed following established policy.
With HR support, recommend pay increases within department budget and store pay scale.
Ensure Produce staff are informed of policy changes.
General Management Review financial reports of departmental performance with Owners and Buyers and take corrective action as needed.
Attend management meetings, assigned committee meetings and storewide meetings.
Perform Manager On Duty shifts as assigned.
Perform other tasks assigned by the Manager.
OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES.
Provide mutual aid to other departments, should the need arise, as directed by MOD or Owner.
Actively participate in matrixed relationships to ensure the store's goals and objectives are met.
